MULTAN: Jane Marriott CMG OBE, the British High Commissioner, has personally witnessed how Pakistani-UK cooperation are spearheading the world’s shift to renewable energy.
With the help of British International Investment, a development finance company of the UK government, the Atlas Solar Farm offers an extra 100 MW of reasonably priced, clean electricity to more than 100,000 residential users. As a result, they are able to prevent 106,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

The High Commissioner met with the Marie Stopes Society, Captain (Rt) Saqib Zafar, Additional Chief Secretary, South Punjab, and Engineer Amir Khattak, Commissioner, Multan, while he was in South Punjab. The Punjab government has received support from the UK to streamline its wheat operations and decrease liabilities by 2.7 trillion rupees through pension reform, resulting in a 469 billion rupee reduction in unsustainable debt.
She also went to the MG Apparel manufacturing facility, a division of Mahmood Textiles Limited, one of Pakistan’s top exporters of apparel to the UK and one of its staunchest allies.
