ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Shirani (JUI-S) have announced their separation.
The JUI-S declaration on the Supreme Court’s ruling regarding the PTI’s intra-party elections and electoral symbol caused the alliance to fracture.
The reintroduction of the bat symbol was announced by Maulana Gul Naseeb as a formal decree. He had said that the PTI’s attorneys’ inability to successfully argue their case before the Supreme Court was to blame.
He had also stated that the Supreme Court’s ruling is compliant with both the law and the constitution.
The parties’ division was verified by PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat.
