PESHAWAR: A spokesman for the Food Authority stated here on Sunday that the massive operation against the adulteration mafia in Peshawar, Charsadda, Swat, and Dera Ismail Khan was still ongoing by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority.
In a social media video that went viral, the Food Safety Team in Peshawar raided food manufacturers on Charsadda Road and in the Mohmand Economic Zone. They also searched a ghee mill in the Mohmand Economic Zone. Ten tons of unusual ghee were confiscated and exported.
The spokesperson stated that Ghee Mills was targeted for action after the samples were deemed inadequate. Additionally, 2100 kg of unconventional spices and non-food-grade colors were removed from a spice plant located on Charsadda Road, and the factory was sealed.
According to the spokesman, the plant in Swat was also raided after receiving classified information from the food safety team. According to the representative, two global firms’ products were being packed with phony spices in the Swat factory.
The factory was sealed and more than 2,000 kg of false spices and packing supplies were taken out, according to the statement.
He claimed that a distributor in Dera Ismail Khan had roughly 7,000 liters of expired mineral water and 700 liters of fizzy drinks seized; the food authority team then brought the items into official custody.
