ISLAMABAD: The National Coordination Committee for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises on Tuesday discussed an 11-point agenda for the growth and promotion of small and medium enterprises to boost investment and business opportunities in the country.
Union Minister for Industries and Manufacturing Rana Tanveer Hussain chaired the 11th meeting of the committee, a press release said.
The minister emphasized that small and medium-sized enterprises are the basis of the economy and, in accordance with the Prime Minister’s directives, efforts are underway to streamline the registration process and provide facilitation of support to small and medium-sized enterprises and ensure their smooth functioning and growth.
The meeting also discussed various options to increase business viability by reducing operating costs, increasing investment incentives, providing affordable credit facilities for small and medium enterprises to start and grow their businesses, and allocating land in industrial estates, specifically for small and medium-sized enterprises to set up and expand their operations. It has decided to empower women entrepreneurs through various initiatives and has earmarked a dedicated fund of Rs 5 billion to create a comprehensive SME Fund to provide financial support and stimulate the growth of SMEs.
