Melbourne: In an effort to overcome his reputation as a tennis villain, Daniil Medvedev said he is making an effort to “mature” and stop doing “stupid things” on the court. The third-ranked player in the world from Russia has a love-hate relationship with his supporters because he frequently loses control of himself on the court.

The 27-year-old, who has placed two finals at the Australian Open, is eager to alter the narrative, though. “I want to grow up and change. “I think I’ve come a long way in the last few months,” he remarked on Friday in Melbourne Park. “Hopefully people can see it on the court because that’s the toughest challenge, tournaments. “The peak of your adrenaline rush occurs when you’re on the court. It’s more difficult to regulate there. “Even if something happens, I just want to kind of go with who I am, try to do less stupid things that don’t help me as a person and tennis player. “I’m hoping to succeed this season, and Daniil Medvedev will seem different. “The Australian The Open’s third seed lost to Novak Djokovic in the 2021 championship match, and a year later, Rafael Nadal suffered a heartbreaking loss at the same level. Medvedev was severely impacted by that close loss in 2022; he found it difficult to regain his previous level of play for the remainder of the year and fell out of the top 10.In 2023, he was eliminated in the third round of the Australian Open. However, he has recovered and finished the season with the most number of wins on the tour—66. “After the last Australian Open, what have I learned? The lesson I believe I have learnt is that no matter what, the future is bright.

“I recall being in a press conference room the previous year. felt difficult following the loss. I believe that falling out of the top 10 and such.” Medvedev acknowledged there was a risk, but this is the first Grand Slam of the year that he is not participating in a warm-up competition. He did, however, state that he required a real vacation from the demands of the tennis circuit. “Everything feels like a risk, especially when you try it for the first time,” he stated. “But as I say, otherwise I would be 35 years old and I would actually never have spent a New Year at home, never do this.
