Unfortunately, the example of our country has become like that of a decadent family that is slowly selling off its commodities to meet expenses, starting with selling off its lands and other assets piece by piece. Ever since we have regained consciousness, we have been hearing that our problems will be solve if we could sale out such and such an institution and that the destiny of the country will change by giving such and such land on lease but nothing has happened.
From CPEC to Gwadar if any country is working here it has its own interests, if anything is left, it is our fate, because we have no capacity to benefit from such great projects. The main reason for which is that we are not used to working hard by ourselves, due to which everyone from a common citizen to the ruling class wants someone to come and solve our problems.
This is the reason why we are wandering around the world with pan in our hands. Recently a prominent English newspaper has published a news about Recodec, we have already given half of the gold to the company and now also giving another fifteen percent to someone else after which Pakistan will have only a quarter of this great treasure.
On the contrary if we were to extract the gold of Recodek ourselves, we might have to face some difficulties but our precious resources would not be in the hands of others and the future generations would benefit from it.
Perhaps we have never thought that we can do some work ourselves. After all, every year our educated class are taking degrees in mining and engineering. Why don’t we encourage them to work hard? Even if this matter will go down on the elites, but if we try, we can do a lot. In short, a nation that can make an atomic bomb can do anything but why our leadership prefer simplicity.
We have created an investment council but it will not help us just to sale the household goods. As much as the foreign companies will give us, it will only cover our daily expenses and we will not know where the money came from and where it went.
According to reports, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have agreed to a deal in principle after Barrack Gold refused to sell its stake in the Recodec project, and under this deal, the Pakistani government will sell 15 percent of its stake to the Saudi investor. As a result of this development, Pakistan’s share in the Recodec project will be reduced from 50% to only 35%. Out of these 35%, the Balochistan government’s share is 25%, which will remain the same, while the federal government’s share will be reduced from 25% to 10%. With this development, Pakistan’s overall share will also decrease from 50% to 35% and thus Pakistan will remain a minority shareholder of this project. Recodec Mining Company will do. Saudi Arabia has also demanded access to permanent arbitration court for this investment. Top officials have said that without SIFC, the work of determining the value of this project would have been impossible, the investment situation in the country is worse and it is it has reached the lowest level since 1972.
According to the statistics, all the government’s words are correct but instead of letting our 15 percent share to someone else to earn more profit, we should continue to use this income and the future. If we should complete any project ourselves instead of giving it to a foreign company. If countries like Iran and Bengal can stand on their own feet, why can’t we stand up? The above measure may benefit the government temporarily but in the long run, this procedure will bring more generosity and ease in the national life, which is the way to destruction. If we sell Gwadar, Saindak, Recodec, PIA, Pakistan Steel Mills, PTCL and all the institutions, then we need to think about what will happen after that.
