Pneumonia infections among children have become somewhat of an epidemic due to the steadily declining mercury levels; in the past 24 hours, Lahore has recorded over 100 suspected cases, and more vacation days have been declared for prep and nursery schools around the province.
Punjab, on the other hand, claimed that 35 children had died from pneumonia in the previous ten days, and on a single day, 730 suspected cases were reported. In the last seven days, 1,456 instances of pneumonia were reported in the provincial capital of Lahore; on just one day, 121 cases were reported.
Medical experts have expressed anxiety about the issue, stating that youngsters under the age of five have been primarily impacted by the seasonal ailment.
The winter break for nursery and prep schools throughout the state was extended by an additional week by interim Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi in response to the severe circumstances.
