BEIJING: The Pakistan Embassy College Beijing (PECB) recently elected Students’ Council members were sworn in to their positions during a grand investiture ceremony on Tuesday in the college gymnasium.
Khalil Hashmi, the Pakistani ambassador to China, was the main guest of honor at the event. The illustrious guests were welcomed by Ms. Shazia Amjad, the principal of PECB, as well as the staff and students. A reading from the Holy Quran opened the ceremony. They played the national anthem.
Speaking to the crowd, Ambassador Hashmi stressed the significance of instilling leadership traits in students in order to affect constructive social change.
In an effort to better themselves, their families, and society as a whole, he counseled the students to accept responsibility and put a lot of effort into developing their gifts and potential.
Ambassador Hashmi expressed her sincere gratitude to the college’s teaching team and principal for their diligent work in planning the investiture ceremony in a proper fashion.
Prior to this, Shazia Amjad, the principal, greeted the ambassador, the parents, and other notable guests. She also thanked the recently elected Students’ Council members, together with their parents and teachers.
Every year, a vote is conducted to choose the members of the Students’ Council. A Level-I student Abdullah Mustafa was chosen as the Head Boy, and A Level-II student Mahrukh Asif was chosen as the Head Girl.
Presidents of the basketball, board game, football, and literary clubs, among other clubs, were also chosen. Sports Captain Boys and Girls were also chosen. The newly elected Council was taken an oath by Vice Principal Maqsood Sadiq.
The Students’ Council members received sashes from Ambassador Khalil Hashmi, Defense Attaché Brig. Ghulam Mustafa, and Deputy Head of Mission Bilal Mehmood Chaudhary.
