Plea filed in SC seeking annulment of IHC verdict in Tyrian White case

A petition was filed in the Supreme Court to set aside the Islamabad High Court (IHC) verdict in the Tayrian Ak case involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

The IHC last month rejected a plea for Khan’s resignation for failing to disclose his daughter’s nomination papers for the 2018 general elections.
The case, comprising Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz, has been adjourned from May 2023 after being adjourned by IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq.
The decision came after the two judges posted it on the court’s website.
IHC CJ Aamer Farooq, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir were on the bench and adjourned the case on March 30 last year.
However, Justice Kayani and Justice Tahir refused to proceed with the petition and uploaded their views on the official website of the IHC.
The IHC rejected the appeal, saying the disqualification petition against Khan had been dismissed by the court.
In his petition, the petitioner, Sajid, prayed the SC to set aside the IHC order and stated that the PTI founder cannot hold public office.
The petition questions whether the concurrence of two judges can be treated as a judgment in the view of the law laid down by the High Court.
