Islamabad: Honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif along with Federal Ministers visited the Naval Command in Islamabad. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf welcomed the Prime Minister on his arrival and was given a guard of honor by an elegantly dressed naval contingent. The Prime Minister also laid a floral wreath at Shuhada’s memorial and was then introduced to the Chief Staff Officers of the Naval Command.
Matters related to regional maritime security environment and operational readiness of Pakistan Navy were discussed during the meeting. The Naval Chief briefed the Prime Minister on the roles, capabilities and future plans for the modernization of the Pakistan Navy.
Later, the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations) presented a detailed briefing on the prevailing maritime environment, the challenges faced by the Pakistan Navy and the response of the Pakistan Navy in meeting these challenges. The Prime Minister was particularly apprised of the capability requirements of the Pakistan Navy to meet the current and future challenges facing the country in the maritime domain. This dignitary was also briefed on measures to take advantage of the economic prospects of the maritime sector. The Prime Minister appreciated the services of the Pakistan Navy to protect the country’s maritime interests despite limited resources. He particularly appreciated the professional response of the Pakistan Navy in foiling the recent terrorist attack on the Turbat Naval Air Base. The prime minister emphasized that the key to meeting all the challenges the country faces is a strong economy. In conclusion, the Prime Minister also visited the Command Operations Center of the Pakistan Navy.
The Navy Chief thanked the Prime Minister for his visit and reiterating his confidence in the Navy. He also assured that the Pakistan Navy, with the help of Allah SWT, will continue to defend the country’s maritime borders and maritime interests and shoulder the responsibility with honor both during peace and war.
