Islamabad: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office, Lahore, in close collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, successfully raided the Telenor franchise located on Jampur Road by DG Khan.
This franchise was found to be involved in the illegal issuance of SIM cards. In the raid, 17 BVS devices, 1 laptop, 360 active SIM cards and 1,000 soft image scans of fingerprints / fingerprints from laptops were confiscated. Two people have been arrested at home by the FIA, which is currently investigating the matter.
The PTA had earlier lodged a complaint with the FIA based on allegations of issuing illegal SIM cards through sales channels. This attack shows the agency’s determination to crack down on illegal SIM issuance.
