ISLAMABAD: Jane Marriott CMG OBE, the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, stated on Wednesday that accessible, high-quality education is essential to promoting peace, prosperity, and ending the cycle of poverty.
She stated that boys and girls have an equal right to education so they can achieve their aspirations in a video message on the occasion of the International Day of Education.
Marriott drew attention to the alarming statistic that 26 million children in Pakistan do not attend school, and that the education of those who do attend is inadequate.
According to her, the UK has helped almost 5.8 million children in Pakistan receive a quality education since 2014. She then on, “I am happy that this journey with the government and development partners continues.”
Every child deserves access to a quality education, stated the High Commissioner. And we promise to work together to make this happen on this International Day of Education.
