Islamabad: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office Faisalabad, in collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, successfully raided an illegal internet service provider in Toba Tek Singh. The provider did not have a valid PTA license.
During the raid, a working internet setup with allied equipment such as switches, routers, and ONTs, as well as an illegal tower with 12 dish antennas, were taken. During the raid, the FIA caught one person on the spot and took them into jail for further investigation.
The PTA’s constant dedication, continual monitoring, and persistent attempts to combat illegitimate internet service providers have contributed to the success of the campaign. These activities are critical in reducing tax evasion and revenue misreporting, which reduces losses to the national exchequer.
The PTA once again urged the public to only use PTA-licensed telecom companies to avoid service disruptions. The list of licensed operators is accessible at: https://pta.gov.pk/en/industry-support/home/list-of-operators.
