WEMBLEY: Real Madrid were crowned European champions for a record 15th time with a 2-0 win over Germany’s Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final at Wembley on Saturday.
Carlo Ancelotti won for the fifth time as manager of the club. That time the club won their first title at Wembley.
It was a dramatic final against Borussia Dortmund. Despite being the favorite, the Spanish team faced strong competition but eventually won 2-0.
Dortmund played an undeniable game. This is a big problem for the club to come here to play in the Champions League final.
Real Madrid broke the deadlock in the 74th minute when Dani Carvajal met Toni Kroos’ corner with an accurate header. The ball went straight into the net, creating a new energy in Carlo Ancelotti’s team. It was Dani’s 13th goal in his Real Madrid career after 11 seasons.
Brazilian striker Vinicius Jr. In the 83rd minute, he scored Real Madrid’s second goal. His clinical performance silenced the passionate Dortmund fans who roared at the final.
Borussia Dortmund had many chances in the first half, but luck was not on their side. Niklas Fuelkrug came closest and hit the post from close range.
However, Dortmund was not afraid of Real Madrid’s impressive record in the competition and dominated the first half. The congregation shouted when Emin gave the half-time warning.
Real Madrid’s win cemented their status as European football giants, adding another trophy to their impressive collection.
Real have not lost a European Cup final since 1981 when they lost 1-0 to Liverpool. They have now reached nine consecutive finals and won a total of 15 titles over 43 years. That’s more than double the seven titles won by second-placed AC Milan.
