Islamabad: PML-N leader in Senate, Senator Irfan Siddiqui on Thursday strongly criticized the current state of the country as similar to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s 1971 East Pakistan crisis.
Siddiqui expressed concern over a controversial message from Imran Khan’s official X account, falsely suggesting that Pakistan is falling back on Dhaka.
“Such claims are worrying, unacceptable and sad,” he said.
Siddiqui said Imran Khan’s post was not just a tweet but a “short film written with an anti-military agenda”.
The film uses images from Bangladeshi and Indian media, which are usually used to undermine the Pakistan Army and thus expose its crimes.
He said the tweet reiterated a “hostile mentality” against military personnel.
“Those who give empty and empty arguments to justify tweeting the photo should tell the public how PTI General Secretary Omar Ayub will explain his press conference outside Adiala jail with the help of his statement with former President Arif Alvi. after meeting Imran Khan in jail, he said a sentiment expressed in Khan’s controversial tweet.
The PTI founder likened himself to the most famous politician Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and accused the current military leadership of triggering the recent fall of Dhaka, saying it was “highly condemned”.
He pointed to the violent attack by PTI party workers on national institutions and monuments last year.
