DUNEDIN: Following Pakistan’s series loss to New Zealand, captain Shaheen Shah Afridi spoke out about the potential and promise he sees in young players, particularly Saim Ayub. During the post-match press conference, Shaheen revealed his insights. He praised Saim’s potential, expressing optimism that the young cricketer have the talent and drive to become a huge star for Pakistan. Afridi acknowledged the difficulties faced by a young player in such circumstances, but advocated patience, stressing Saim’s persistent hard work, even in the nets.

“Saim has the potential to become a major star. He possesses the skill and desire to do well for Pakistan. He always gives his all, even in the nets. It’s not always simple for a young child to deal with such circumstances. We need to give him time. Azam is the greatest performer in domestic cricket, ranked #5/6. His average and strike rate are the best in Pakistan for these positions. If we give these youngsters the right opportunities, they can go on to accomplish well for Pakistan,” Shaheen stated. Shaheen praised Babar Azam’s effort, citing his three great innings. However, he emphasized that ending a game necessitates assistance from the opposing team.
