In view of the situation in the country, on Muharram and other important occasions when there is a lot of rush-hour traffic of citizens the government have to shut down social media and mobile phones to which the citizens have to face difficulties but for the security of the citizens it is expected.
However, one of opinion is that if the lockdown is done in specific areas instead of the entire district then the communication system can be kept intact. This is the reason why this year the government has rejected the request to shut down social media during Muharram. In a news published on a well-known Urdu website, according to the sources of the Ministry of Interior it was recommended by the provinces to shut down social media during some days of Muharram which the federal government rejected.
Sources says that social media applications will not be closed. During Muharram the security will be made foolproof and more effective. According to the sources mobile signals will also be closed during Muharram at the places where processions and worship will be held.
It should be clear that during Muharram, 6 applications from different provinces recommended to be closed from 6th to 11th Muharram, which has been rejected by the government. The argument of those who object to this is that if there is a social media lockdown, for a few days for sake of law and order. Then there is no evil in it if the lockdown is done then the above goal can be achieved.
This is the reason why the federal government has decided to shut down the social media at the places where the processions will pass, instead of the general shutdown of social media on the occasion of this year, respecting the wishes of the people and they can be kept in contact within the country who have to suffer due to the closure of the communication system.
It is hoped that the federal government will stick to its decision so that the citizens do not face difficulties this time but if a complete lockdown is imposed in some sensitive areas then in such a situation. The citizens should cooperate with the government institutions and protesting against it should be avoided because their life is the most important for which the administration of every era is often concerned so that any emergency can be dealt with.
If this matter is taken seriously and responsibly then the stance of the government officials is correct that they sometimes take strict measures to protect the public.
However it is also a fact that sometimes the government uses social media unnecessary restrictions are also imposed or the speed of the net is slowed down due to which citizens are facing a lot of problems. For the solution of which it is necessary to take practical steps by the government.
Apart from that, in spite of receiving all the taxes from the public by the mobile companies in case of load shedding the internet service is stopped by the companies, the main reason being that all the cellular companies have not given the fuel to mobile towers.
which causes the internet to stop working as soon as there is a power cut against which citizens have complained to the higher authorities that the cellular companies are not providing the required speed to the users and their data is running out quickly, against which there is a complaint system but it is not implemented due to which even in normal days, people are suffering from problems regarding the Internet and social media.
It is hoped, this year with the cooperation of the peoples peace will be maintained in the important urban and rural areas of the country, including the provincial capital Peshawar during Muharram for which the entire nation should keep praying so that anti-social elements and terrorists will not be succeeded in their goals.
