SWAT: One-Day Training Hike for Khpal Kor Model School Boys Scout Unit here in Swat district.
According to the annual schedule, the Boys Scout unit of Khpal Kor Model School in Mingora conducted a one-day training hike from Saidu Sharif to the green hilly area of Sherarai. In the lush green mountains and pastures of Sherarai, the Scouts learned how to cook meat, omelettes, and clay eggs without a pot under the leadership of Scout Unit Leader Akhtar Ali. These skills, taught in the scout subject at school, were practiced in the field. The hike provided practical experience that contributes to both the mental and physical development of the students.
During the hike, several students shared their experiences:
Haris, a Grade 9 student, said: “This hike was a fantastic experience. I learned how to cook in the wild, which is something I had never done before. It was challenging but also fun.”
Hasan Ali, a Grade 10 student, mentioned: “The hike taught me the importance of teamwork and self-reliance. Cooking without a pot was tricky, but with the guidance of our leader, we managed to do it successfully.”
Abdul samad, a Grade 9 student, added: “Being in nature and learning survival skills was a great way to spend the day. It was not just about hiking but also about learning valuable life skills.”
The students’ reflections highlight how practical experiences like this hike are essential for their overall growth, enhancing both their mental and physical development.
