SWAT: KP Green Alliance and the US State Department organized a three-day Climate Youth Camp in Swat Valley regarding the increasing impact of climate change on Pakistan, in which around 100 social media influencers and university students from across the country participated. On the second day of the Climate Youth Camp, sessions on various topics were organized for the participants in Swat University to spread awareness about climate change through digital platforms. The aim of this youth camp was to spread awareness about climate change among the youth so that they can perform their duties as responsible citizens of the society and fight climate change and play their key role in reducing the effects and causes of climate change. . In this event, Swat University Vice Chancellor Hasan Sher, national and international researchers and journalists informed the participants about their experiences and observations. Furqan Khattak, the organizing director of the event and founder of KP Green Alliance, said that the role of youth is very important to deal with climate change as long as the youth educates the general public about environment, forests and water protection through their social media platforms. Until then, we will not be able to save our country and future generations from the negative effects of climate change. Additional Deputy Commissioner Swat Abrar Wazir discussed in detail regarding the effects and damages of 2010 and 2022 floods on Swat district. During the ceremony, Advocate Peshawar High Court Tariq Afghan said that unless the public has legal and constitutional information regarding the protection of the environment, it will be very difficult to work on climate change, so government and non-government organizations should work together for it. He further said that public awareness is the only solution to protect the environment. At the end of the ceremony, shields and certificates were distributed among the organizers and guests.
