KIGALI, Rwanda: Tropical Cyclone Alvaro, which slammed Madagascar earlier this month, killed at least 12 people, according to the country’s disaster management office on Tuesday.
According to the National Office for Risk and Disaster Management, the victims included a mother and her three children who were buried under the rubble after a landslide.
More than 9,500 individuals have been relocated as a result of flooding and landslides and are living in temporary shelters, according to the report.
The cyclone also destroyed a number of infrastructures, including over 400 housing units, classrooms, and thousands of hectares of rice cultivation.
