SWAT: The Anti-Narcotics Students Society, under the auspices of the Provost Office at the University of Swat, organized a seminar on anti-narcotics at the Main Campus Committee Room in Swat district.
This seminar was specifically designed for faculty members and staff to raise awareness about the growing issue of narcotics within educational institutions.
The resource person for the seminar, Dr. Muhammad Israr, Associate Professor of Forensic Science, delivered an in-depth presentation on the injurious effects of narcotics. He highlighted the multifaceted dangers that narcotics pose, not only to the individual user but also to the broader educational environment. Dr. Israr emphasized how substance abuse can undermine academic performance, disrupt the learning atmosphere, and contribute to a range of social and psychological issues among students. He also discussed the role of educational institutions in preventing drug abuse by fostering a culture of awareness and support. Furthermore, Dr. Israr underscored the importance of early intervention and the need for faculty members to be vigilant in identifying and addressing any signs of drug use among students.
Dr. Anwar Hussain, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, also shared his perspective during the seminar. He expressed his deep concern over the potential impact of narcotics on the academic and social fabric of the university. Dr. Hussain praised the efforts of the Anti-Narcotics Students Society for organizing such a timely and crucial awareness seminar, acknowledging the importance of collective responsibility in combating the threat of narcotics. He encouraged faculty members to actively participate in fostering a drug-free environment and to collaborate with the university’s initiatives aimed at preventing substance abuse.
