SYDNEY: Marketa Vondrousova withdrew from the Adelaide International on Tuesday due to a right hip injury, putting her participation for the Australian Open in doubt.It was unclear how serious Vondrousova’s injury was or whether her participation in the year’s first Grand Slam would be jeopardized. Vondrousova, the No.7 seed in the women’s draw at the Australian Open, which begins in five days, was replaced in Adelaide by fortunate loser Taylor Townsend. Townsend advanced to the second round by defeating Russian qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich, 6-3, 7-6 (4).
