ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police’s attempts to bolster the battle against cybercrimes have resulted in the official establishment of the recently inaugurated Cyber Crime Investigation Unit within the Pakistan police department. Following changes to the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), which enable Islamabad Police to file cybercrime cases under Section 30, comes this historic initiative. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Islamabad Police have partnered to use technical help in the investigation of cybercrimes in an effort to leverage specialist skills. The collaboration aims to tackle the complex issues brought about by cyberattacks and guarantee a strong reaction to the constantly changing field of cybercrimes. An important first step in developing a workforce capable of managing cybercrime cases has been reached with the successful completion of the first phase of training for sixty Islamabad Police officers, conducted in partnership with the FIA.

These officers have received specific training to give them the skills and information needed to conduct efficient cybercrime investigations. The F-6 Service Center is home to the Cyber Crime Investigation Center, which was created to organize and centralize efforts. This cutting-edge building will act as a central location for organizing and carrying out in-depth investigations into cybercrimes, giving specialists a specific area to assess and address online misdeeds. Under the direction of SSP (Safe City) and with power from CPO Safe City, the members of the Cyber Crime Investigation Unit will carry out their duties with accuracy, guaranteeing a comprehensive and well-coordinated approach to countering cyberthreats.
