Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi chaired a review meeting on the modernization of police stations in Islamabad at the Ministry of Interior. He ordered the modernization of police stations in the federal capital on the pattern of smart police stations. He emphasized that traditional police stations have become a symbol of fear and citizens think twice before visiting these stations. He said he personally visited the police stations and witnessed the deplorable conditions.
The interior minister emphasized that Islamabad is the face of Pakistan and we must make it a world-class city by introducing smart policing immediately. He assured that all possible resources will be provided for smart police stations. He said that well-behaved and educated policemen would be deployed in the smart police stations and the police stations would be gradually upgraded and converted into smart police stations. He directed the rapid implementation of the plan, stating that a quality design at a low cost should be prepared for the modernization.
The Home Secretary also directed that land be identified for police stations set up in leased buildings. He emphasized that there will be no compromise on merit in the recruitment of police officers and only youth who are fit, educated and meet the merit criteria will be selected. He emphasized the need for a positive change in behavior towards the complainants.
The meeting was attended by Federal Home Minister Khurram Ali Agha, Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa, DIG Operations and other senior officials.
