KHYBER: In protest of the extended power outage in front of the grid on Thursday at Tedi Bazaar, Jamrud, district Khyber, local ladies blocked the Pak-Afghan. Numerous women and their children from nearby villages, led by councilor Wagma Afridi, reportedly appeared on the highway, threw stones on it, and started a sit-in to demand that all traffic be stopped. This information was reported by the locals and a police official. Speaking at the event, Wagma Afridi claimed that prolonged power outages had interfered with their regular duties and that the involved officials had chosen to ignore their suffering, which was unfair to them. She insisted that in addition to their children becoming sick from the cold weather, their lack of power had made their life unpleasant and caused them to experience domestic problems. She said, “So far, three children have died from pneumonia in the last ten days due to lack of facilities in the new settlement (Naee Abadi).” She vowed that they wouldn’t stop being agitated until their issue was resolved.
